The Kindred Institute is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering whole-person wellness and leadership development in communities and workplaces.
Rooted in Carroll County, we offer programs that support mental, emotional, and professional well-being. Our work blends leadership development, wellness education, and real-life support through tailored workshops and intentional learning experiences.
Our vision is clear: to build a community-centered space where wellness and leadership go hand in hand. With each step, we aim to offer meaningful support, practical tools, and a sense of connection for those we serve.
We’re proud to operate under the fiscal sponsorship of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, whose support helps us lay a strong foundation as we grow.

Wellness, to me, means having what you need to care for your mind, body, and spirit—consistently and without barriers. It’s about feeling safe, connected, and supported, whether you’re navigating a challenge or building a future. As a leader, I believe wellness should be built into the systems we create and the relationships we nurture. As a parent and longtime community member, I’ve seen how wellness touches every part of life, from how we show up at work to how we care for our families. Real wellness means dignity, access, and the opportunity to live with purpose, on your own terms and with support that meets you where you are.

Wellness, to me, is about self-enrichment and personal fulfillment—it’s a holistic journey that goes beyond just physical health. It encompasses all seven dimensions of wellness—emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, environmental, and occupational—working together to create balance and harmony. Each aspect plays a unique role, and while we all experience wellness in our own way, it unites us through the shared goal of living a meaningful and enriched life. It’s the recognition that we are individually distinct, yet connected in our pursuit of well-being.
